Pain management

Everyone will have experienced feelings of anxiety and worry many times.  For example, you may have felt worried or anxious about an interview, results from a medical test, financial changes or asking an important question of someone.  These feelings are perfectly normal responses.  However, when these feelings of worry or anxiety become intrusive, and begin to affect  your normal day to day life the sooner you deal with them the better.

The NHS estimate that approximately 2 in 100 people will suffer with a generalised anxiety disorder at some point during their lifetime.  It is most likely to occur to people in their 20's and it affects slightly more women than men. Without treatment It is a long-term condition that creates feelings of anxiety and worry about a very wide range of issues, rather than relating to just one specific issue.  You may find that you are anxious most days and may not be able to remember the last time you were able to properly relax.

The NHS identifies the symptoms of anxiety as being many and varied, for example:

   Feeling ‘on edge’

   Restlessness or difficulty concentrating

   A sense of dread

   Irritability and Impatience

   Being easily distracted

   Dizziness

   Lethargy

   Pins and needles

   Irregular heart beat (palpitations)

   Muscle aches

   Excessive sweating

   Shortness of breath

   Stomach ache and Diarrhoea

   Headache

   Dry mouth

   Excessive thirst and Frequent urination

   Painful or missed periods

   Disturbed sleep

Some people experience ‘panic attacks’ which can in itself feel frightening, with people often describing how they thought they were going to die, usually of a heart attack.

There are a number of diagnosable conditions for which anxiety is the primary symptom.  For example, panic disorder, phobias, post-traumatic syndrome and generalised anxiety disorder.

How Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy Can Help

A positive side effect of hypnosis is  that it is also a physically relaxing process and therefore will effectively reduces physical stress levels.
